What is ZPL?

ZPL (Zebra Programming Language) is the command language used by Zebra and compatible thermal printers. Instead of printing an image, you send the printer plain-text commands that describe text, barcodes, lines and boxes. ZPLCraft generates those commands for you from a visual canvas.

Do I need to install drivers or software?

The editor needs no desktop install. Printing depends on the method: direct WebUSB needs a supported Chromium browser and an interface the operating system has not claimed; Zebra Browser Print requires Zebra’s local helper; system printing uses your configured OS driver.

Which printers does ZPLCraft work with?

ZPL output works with printers that genuinely accept the selected ZPL features and DPI. Direct WebUSB also requires a claimable bulk interface; Zebra Browser Print is Zebra-only; the system dialog can use any printer configured by your operating system, but sends rendered pages rather than raw ZPL.

Can I convert a Word document into a label?

Yes. Import a .docx file, choose the paragraphs you need, and ZPLCraft combines them into one editable text block while detecting headings and bold runs. Generated ZPL uses text commands and approximates bold where needed.

Can ZPLCraft replace desktop Zebra label design software?

For many everyday label layouts, ZPLCraft provides a browser-based alternative with no desktop editor installation. Printing still depends on the selected method: WebUSB needs a supported browser and claimable interface, Zebra Browser Print needs its local helper, and system printing uses the configured operating-system driver.
